Yves Saint Laurent & Halston Fashioning the 70s at FIT

Posted: 03.10.2015
With the resurrection of the 70s up and down the runway and in retailers, of course it is only right to pay homage to the two designers that owned the 70s-- Halston and Yves Saint Laurent. The Fashion Institute of technology (FIT) opened an exhibit, 'Yves Saint Laurent + Halston: Fashioning The 70s', that ran from February through April.

When I caught wind that the exhibit was going to feature two different designers, it was a little confused... Why would they showcase two designers whom were considered rivals? Why would each designer not given their own exhibit? But after visiting the exhibit, all of my curiosities were satisfied.

While walking through the exhibit, I was in awe of how classic the Halston designs truly were. Ninety-nine percent of the Halston pieces I could imagine myself in (not really sure where I would go in all those fancy threads, but a girl can certainly dream!). With every step through the decade of decadence, I was more and more drawn to the Halston pieces-- the simplicity and understated elegance it was truly switched me one. I loved each piece in the exhibit, but the Halston pieces made me feel absolute lust (insert thirst emoji).

If you are free, please swing by The Fashion Institute of Technology for this exhibit or any exhibit that is being showcased. Find out what's happening on the FIT website here.
