William Okpo Presentation FW 14

Posted: 02.17.2014

The William Okpo FW 14 presentation consisted of an assortment of non-traditional silhouettes, unexpected fall vibrancy and tasteful retro inspiration. Both of these aesthetics aid in creating a look that is personable and creative. All in all, I will say, that the collection was like a glass of ice water in the desert.

On top of the collection being refreshing, the aspect of the presentation that I found most pleasing was that the models did not sashay down a runway, but in fact stood on display--museum-esque. This gave the audience a chance to take in the designs that the Okpo sisters seemed to put their souls into. Observing a presentation versus watching a runway show is completely different in every way. At runway shows, the audience is focusing so hard and taking notes as quickly as possible just to get a gist of the designer’s collection, because the collections can range any where from 20 to 40 looks at a very quick pace. Although, at the presentation-style show the audience isn't getting to view as many looks, the audience really gets to get personal with the collection and become familiar with the brand. And I will say, this is a brand that you guys and gals should get cozy with. They are un-officially backed by the likes of Solange and her cool kid company Saint Heron; therefore, these beautiful ladies are doing something right! Two snaps and around the world!

Allow me to keep it simple and say... I love their shit. Go buy it.
