Styling Pink Hair

Posted: 11.13.2014
The month of October was an experimental month for my style. I coloured my hair pink (#PinkHairDontCare) in efforts to give myself a style resuscitation! This drastic change from a semi-natural colour to an unnatural colour gave me a serious shock! But there is no style challenge too great!

The first aspect you must understand is colour! Yes, I know you are able to distinguish between red and pink! But when you have such a powerful colour on your head, your style needs to play it cool, similar to styling with a hat-- you don't want to be that girl in a fedora with a gown on...

During the first week while my hair was the brightest, I opted for solid black or white, because throwing a colour into that mix would've been all kinds of crazy!

As it began to fade, I pulled out a royal blue sweatshirt to get a good contrast going. And I was also able to pull out a printed kimono to spice up a black ensemble. Not only could I wear a little more colour on my body, I could also do a little more with my lipstick. Balancing makeup when your hair is an unnatural colour is very important, because you don't want to appear cartoonish (oxymoron, right?) After the fade really started to set in, I was able to mix in a soft pink faux fur and bright pink trainers.

I am always needing a change, so when the pink wasn't washing out... I went for the black box!

Whatcha think? Leave me comment and tell me about your experience with an unnatural colour!
